Aldeen Golf Club PGA Pro Chris French Advances to the 2023 PGA Championship for the First Time

ROCKFORD, IL – In a few days, Chris French, PGA Pro and Golf Program Manager at Aldeen Golf Club, 1900 Reid Farm Rd, Rockford, will make his debut at the 2023 PGA Championship.

French recently competed and tied for 17th place in the 2023 PGA Professional Championship. He is now among the low 20 scorers who earned exemptions into the 2023 PGA Championship and a position on the 2023 Corebridge Financial PGA Team, May 15-21, at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. This is the third time that French has played in the PGA Professional Championship, but has never qualified to move onto the PGA Championship.

“This has been a dream of mine since I started playing golf, so it means the world to me to have qualified for the PGA Championship. I am honored to represent Illinois and am thankful for the family, friends, and co-workers who have been so supportive and encouraging. I hope that this major moment in local golf history will also inspire other youth and teens to love the game of golf as much as I do, and to know that hard work on and off the golf course does make a difference,” said Chris French, PGA Pro and Golf Program Manager at Aldeen Golf Club.

French has been a Golf Professional at Aldeen Golf Club for 10 years, but was first introduced to the game of golf at age ten. He has been playing golf professionally since 2014, and some of his most recent accomplishments include:

• Received Illinois Assistant PGA Player of the Year in 2017 and 2019

• Won the 2019 Illinois PGA Players Championship

• Competed and won numerous Illinois PGA events

• Earned PGA Tour Latinoamerica membership and was on PGA Tour Latinoamerica

• 2022 40 Under 40 recognition from Rockford Chamber of Commerce
