Rockford Park District to Add New Golf Simulators at Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two

LOVES PARK, IL – The Rockford Park District announced plans today to expand indoor golf opportunities by adding four Full Swing Pro 2 golf/multisport simulators as part of a full-scale renovation of the restaurant and bar located on the upper level of Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two, 8800 E Riverside Blvd, Loves Park, IL. Renovations to the restaurant are expected to be complete this fall, just in time for the indoor golf season. Each November, Indoor Sports Center transforms Field 2 into an indoor driving range that offers golfers a chance to practice and continue lessons through the end of March.

“We’re thrilled to bring this exciting new recreation opportunity to the community,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Jay Sandine. “These simulators not only provide instructional aids for high-level golfers to improve their game, they are also fun for families who just want to play together. Incorporating the simulators into the restaurant allows us to provide a great place for families and friends to gather for good food, drinks, and fun.”

No property tax dollars were used to fund this project. The four simulators were purchased using remaining Reclaiming First capital funding for the Indoor Sports Center expansion.

The Rockford Park District golf team also shared new outdoor golf programming and events, as well as new clubhouse enhancements and revenue generating opportunities at the courses.

Full Swing Pro 2 video simulators are geared to active golfers and sports lovers of all ages, and offer a whole new level of golf competition with highly stylized graphics where golfers can track progress against other players. Each simulator is 12.5’ wide and 16’ deep, with full-length walls and floor-to-ceiling screen, and features a 22” LCD touchscreen, dual tracking system, golf course software, and all the necessary components to accurately track and realistically simulate golf play including driving, approach shots, pitching, chipping, and putting. Bunker play and other specialty shots closely resemble real-life play!

The Park District’s Full Swing Pro 2 simulators will offer:

  • Golf Simulation – 84 world-class golf courses, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, and the PGA National

  • Showdown Golf – 20 mini-golf games (target games, find the fairway, and more)

  • Multi-sport Simulation – 13 additional games featuring sports like football, soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, zombie dodgeball, and more!

The addition of the four simulators will allow the Rockford Park District to enhance indoor lesson offerings, and provide opportunities for new leagues, team practices, and party rentals.

“This is all part of our strategy to bring additional revenue into the Rockford Park District, and reduce our dependency on tax dollars,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Jay Sandine.
